Diabetes Update 2016

Activity Preview

How we care for patients with diabetes is changing—fast. Pharmacists need to stay up to speed with the latest guidelines, antidiabetic agents, and treatment strategies. This session, led by experts in diabetes care, will keep you current with the newest information available.

This activity is based on a live activity held March 7, 2016 in Baltimore, Maryland, as part of the APhA2016 Annual Meeting Exposition. You may stop and start the recording accordingly to participate in any speaker activities and assessments. Please record your responses and then compare your results to the live audience results if provided in the recording.


Learning Objectives

After participating in this activity, the pharmacist will be able to:

  1. Summarize important recent changes to the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes and other authoritative guidelines.
  2. Describe evidence regarding the risks and benefits of new and emerging medications and products for the management of patients with diabetes.
  3. Identify noteworthy findings from recent large clinical trials that have the potential to influence diabetes care.
  4. Explain how to apply emerging information to the care of patients with diabetes.

The American Pharmacists Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education (CPE).

To obtain 2.0 contact hours of CPE credit (0.2 CEUs) for "Diabetes Update 2016" complete the CPE examination and evaluation questions. Credit will be awarded upon achieving a passing grade of 70% or better. Please visit CPE monitor for your transcript.

APhA continuing pharmacy education policy provides you with two opportunities to successfully complete this continuing pharmacy education examination. Please note that you will not be permitted to submit the examination a third time. The current policy of the APhA Education Department is not to release the correct answers to any of our CPE tests. This policy is intended to maintain the integrity of the CPE activity and the test.

Individuals completing this activity by March 7, 2019 can receive credit. Individuals who participated in the live version of this activity held March 7, 2016 in Baltimore, Maryland may NOT receive credit for the home-study version of this activity.
