Keep Up! is an on-demand and interactive professional development program created with the busy pharmacist in mind. Keep Up! is ACPE accredited and designed to be completed in 30 minutes, with two to three short mini-lessons on timely topics relevant to pharmacists in all practice settings. The series will consist of six total modules, with a new topic launching every other month.
Every year, more than 2 million people in the United States become ill from infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Of them, 23,000 die. The mortality rate increases in patients with complications of coexisting conditions. To fight these fatal infections, the CDC states we must improve antibiotic use.
At the completion of this knowledge-based activity, participants will be able to:
- State the consequences of inappropriate antimicrobial prescribing and use.
- Identify authoritative sources of information regarding the development and conduct of an antimicrobial stewardship program.
- Describe the importance of accurately assessing patient-reported antimicrobial allergies.
- Evaluate the appropriateness of prescription for antimicrobials to treat respiratory tract and urinary tract infections.
