The proper storage and handling of vaccines are important for pharmacist-based immunization clinics. Poor storage and handling can have negative financial and patient care outcomes. Likewise, appropriate administration of vaccines is important for ensuring good patient outcomes. The speaker for this knowledge-based archived webinar discussed the latest guidelines on the proper storage, handling, and administration of vaccines.
At the completion of this knowledge-based activity, participants will be able to:
- Describe appropriate techniques and procedures for the administration of vaccines, and the adverse events that may occur when vaccines are not administered correctly.
- Discuss storage and handling of vaccines to ensure vaccine integrity and adherence to CDC guidelines.
- Discuss the appropriate procedures for the handling of vaccines that have expired or fallen outside of storage requirements.
- Discuss the extent and impact of potential shoulder-injuries caused by inappropriate vaccine administration positioning.
- Discuss current and future vaccine technology for the administration, storage and handling of vaccine.
