Keep Up! is an on-demand and interactive professional development program created with the busy pharmacist in mind. Keep Up! is ACPE accredited and designed to be completed in 30 minutes, with two to three short mini-lessons on timely topics relevant to pharmacists in all practice settings. The series will consist of six total modules, with a new topic launching every other month.
Keep Up! Keeping Up explores the tips and tricks for keeping current with the biomedical literature. Using a case-based approach, participants will learn how to use the PICO acronym (P = Patient Population, I = Intervention, C = Comparator, and O = Outcomes) to identify articles and education materials that are most relevant to their daily work. Participants will learn how participation in a community of practice can increase their awareness of contemporary issues and provide opportunities to share knowledge to address problems pertinent to patient care. The features and capabilities of the most common tools used for culling relevant information from the primary literature – including abstract services and computer/smart phone applications – will be explored. Finally, participants will learn the basic tenants of applying information from the primary literature to make well informed decisions about their practice and to the care of individual patients.
At the completion of this knowledge-based activity, participants will be able to:
- Compare tools for grazing literature relevant to your practice area.
- Describe a process using drilling techniques to address a practice-based problem applying the best available evidence.
