Pharmacogenomic testing has grown substantially over the past 30 years. With the growth of pharmacogenomic testing, so has the idea of precision medicine. Precision medicine has demonstrated many benefits to patients and medical providers in a multitude of medications and associated disease states. This webinar was developed to demonstrate how precision medicine can optimize pharmacy patient care services. An expert in the field will discuss how a patient’s gene makeup can impact drug metabolism. Additionally, how can a pharmacist incorporate the finding from pharmacogenomic testing in their patient care services. 

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this knowledge-based activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Define pharmacogenomics testing and precision medicine.  

  2. Identify the common metabolic pathways that are influenced by pharmacogenomics and the medications affected. 

  1. Identify the benefits of implementing pharmacogenomic testing in your practice setting 

  1. Identify the challenges with implementation of pharmacogenomics in pharmacies.
