APhA Quick Quiz: Conversations About Anxiety and/or Panic Attacks

Activity Preview

Anxiety is defined by excessive, persisting worry about imminent or minor events. Panic attacks may occur in patients with anxiety and may be experienced as a short burst of intense fear marked by increased heart rate, brief chest pain, or shortness of breath. Patients who experience anxiety and/or panic attacks may be hesitant to seek treatment because they do not want to be viewed as “mentally ill” or “weak” for acknowledging anxiety signs and symptoms or receiving therapy for it.

Take this quiz to assess and expand your knowledge about effective strategies for pharmacists to help patients open up about anxiety and panic attacks and engage in effective conversations with their patients who experience these conditions.
