This webinar will explore pharmacist accountability in patient care as it relates to a holistic, patient-centered approach, clinical decision making, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals. The presentation will provide an overview of pharmacy practice transformation and value-based payment models to explain why pharmacists must be recognized as accountable patient care providers to advance the profession. 

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this knowledge-based activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss the difference between accountability and responsibility, as well as related terminology. 
  2. Review related APhA policy and language used by pharmacy, and other non-physician practitioner organizations to describe accountability to patient care.   
  3. Explain why accountability is important in advancing the pharmacist’s role in patient care. 
  4. Explain why practice transformation and value-based payment models make it essential for pharmacists to be recognized as accountable patient care providers.
