During the Immunizing Pharmacists SIG Business Meeting at APhA2019, attendees identified “handling vaccine hesitancy and refusal” as a topic of programming interest. Specifically, strategies for addressing immunization barriers including the anti-vax movement and practical communication tools and pearls were identified as beneficial information for members.
This webinar is targeted to immunizing pharmacists to address vaccine hesitancy and resistance. A panel of three members from APhA’s Immunizing Pharmacists Special Interest Group will discuss their approaches for addressing patients who are hesitant to receive immunizations.
At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
- Describe common reasons for vaccine hesitancy using a case-based approach.
- Select motivational interviewing techniques to guide conversations with vaccine-hesitant patients.
- Identify reputable resources for addressing specific patient concerns.
