During the Immunizing Pharmacists SIG Business Meeting at APhA2019, attendees identified “handling vaccine hesitancy and refusal” as a topic of programming interest. Specifically, strategies for addressing immunization barriers including the anti-vax movement and practical communication tools and pearls were identified as beneficial information for members.
This webinar is targeted to immunizing pharmacists to address vaccine hesitancy and resistance. A panel of 3 members from APhA’s Immunizing Pharmacists Special Interest Group will discuss their approaches for addressing patients who are hesitant to receive immunizations.
At the completion of this knowledge-based activity, participants will be able to:
- Describe common reasons for vaccine hesitancy using a case-based approach.
- Select motivational interviewing techniques to guide conversations with vaccine-hesitant patients.
- Identify reputable resources for addressing specific patient concerns.
