Learning Objectives

At the completion of this application-based activity, participants will be able to

  1. Identify and apply important recent changes to the immunization schedules for adults and children in the United States to representative patient cases.
  2. Describe specific immunization recommendations for special populations, including health professionals, immunocompromised individuals, and pregnant women.
  3. Discuss the epidemiology of outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases in the United States.
  4. Summarize information about the efficacy and possible adverse effects of recently licensed vaccines.
  5. List promising new vaccines in the development pipeline.
