Technology Requirements / Troubleshooting


APhA's Education is conducted in an online environment. Below, are the system requirements to have a positive learning experience. Should you run into any issues, we have also provided some basic troubleshooting tips.

What Technology Is Required?

These technology requirements and suggestions will allow you a better online learning experience.  In order to participate in any APhA online learning activity, participants must have access to a computer with these minimum system requirements:

Hardware Requirements

  • 128MB of RAM
  • 16-bit video card capable of 1024x768 screen resolution or better
  • Speakers or headphones, if accessing content with audio

Software Requirements

  • Internet Browsers
    • IE 9 and greater
    • Microsoft Edge 12 and greater
    • Firefox 4 and greater*
    • Google Chrome*
    • Safari 5 and greater

* These browsers automatically update themselves behind the scenes to the most current version.

    • iOS devices (tablets and phones):  Please note iPads do not currently allow Adobe Support to be downloaded onto the device.

How do I Check my Pop-Up Blocker Settings?

This would pertain to most courses, if you are able to see a course window displayed, but no content within the display, you can check your pop-up blocker settings. Each web browser is different. Please click on the appropriate link below.

  1. Go to Tools > Internet Options> Privacy (If you do not see your tools menu at the top of the browser, press “Alt” and “T” to bring up your tools menu)
  2. Select to uncheck the box that designates that your pop-up blockers are on.
  3. Click “Ok” and close the tab.
  4. Refresh your screen to ensure that all changes have been applied.

  2. Select Content.
  3. Uncheck the box labled “block pop-up windows”.
  4. Click “Ok”.
  5. Refresh your screen to ensure that all changes have been applied.
  1. Go to the em><Settings Icon in the upper right hand corner of the screen and choose Settings.
  2. Select Show Advanced Settings > Privacy > Content Settings.
  3. Scroll until you see pop-ups and choose “Allow all sites to show pop-ups”.
  4. Click done and refresh your screen to ensure that all changes have been applied.

  2. Remove the checkmark from “Block pop-up windows".
  3. Refresh your screen to ensure that all changes have been applied.
  1. Click the Sprocket Icon in the upper right hand corner of your screen.
  2. Remove the checkmark from “Block pop-up windows".
  3. Refresh your screen to ensure that all changes have been applied.
  1. Click on the three (3) dots in the upper right hand corner of your screen.
  2. Click Settings >View Advanced Settings
  3. Click the toggle switch under “block pop-ups” to turn them to off.
  4. Refresh your screen to ensure that all changes have been applied.

How Do I Clear My Internet Cache?

This typically is used if you are having issues with a course freezing or not saving your progress. You will need to exit out of the course as well as your account before clearing the cache. Since each web browser is different, click on the appropriate link below for directions.

  1. Go to Tools > Internet Options.
  2. Under the General tab at the bottom of the page, click on the Delete browsing history upon exit box and then select Delete.
  3. On the next Screen, make sure that the first five options are checked (from Preserve Favorites to Download History) and then select Delete again.
  4. Refresh your screen to ensure that all changes have been applied.
  1. Go to the Settings Icon in the upper right corner of the screen and select History.
  2. When the new tab opens, select Clear Browsing Data.
  3. Select the date range for deleting data (i.e. past hour, past day, past week, past 4 weeks, end of time)
  4. Select the first four options: Browsing history, Download history, Cookies and other site and plug-in data, Cached images and files.
  5. Click Clear Browsing Data.
  6. Refresh your screen to ensure that all changes have been applied.
  1. Go to the History Tab on Menu Bar and select Clear History.
  2. On Clear Recent History, Select your time range to clear(i.e. last hour, 2 hours, 4 hours, today or everything).
  3. Under Details, select the first four options (From Browsing & Download History to Cache') and then select Clear Now.
  4. Refresh your screen to ensure that all changes have been applied.
  1. Go to the History on Menu Bar and select Clear History at the bottom of drop down menu.
  2. A pop up menu will appear and ask to confirm that you want to clear. If you do not want to clear your Top Sites, uncheck this box. (If one of your top sites is the site you are having trouble with, then you will want to include this as well) and select the Clear button.
  3. Refresh your screen to ensure that all changes have been applied.
