OTC Guidance: Helping Patients Help Themselves

Patients often take their medical care into their own hands with OTC medications. However, they need help determining which products to use—and how to use them safely. This roundtable session will relate product information and recent literature on OTC medications and self-treatment to real-life scenarios that you can apply to your practice. 

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this application-based activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Apply recent literature in the decision-making process for evaluating candidacy for self-care and selecting appropriate nonprescription products for patients.
  2. Demonstrate effective educational strategies when using nonprescription products.
  3. Provide guidance for safe selection of nonprescription medication and nonpharmacologic interventions for patients with various conditions.

The American Pharmacists Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. The following archived webinar is approved for 1.5 contact hour of CPE credit (0.15 CEUs). The ACPE Universal Activity Number for this activity is 0202-0000-20-058-H01-P/T

To obtain credit for completing OTC Guidance: Helping Patients Help Themselves,  participants will need to watch the archived webinar, complete the assessment with a grade of 70% or better, complete the evaluation questions, and then CLAIM credit. Participants need to have a valid pharmacist.com username and password to claim credit. After credit has been claimed, please visit CPE monitor for your transcript.    

APhA continuing pharmacy education policy provides you with two opportunities to successfully complete this continuing pharmacy education assessment.
