BCSCP Recertification: Handling in Healthcare Settings for Compounding Professionals

This new 6.5-hour online interactive recertification course is intended for Board Certified Sterile Compounding Pharmacists (BCSCP) seeking to earn recertification credit for their BPS certification. Developed in partnership with the U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP), this training describes the scope of USP <800> by outlining quality standards and responsibilities of personnel for handling hazardous drugs (HDs) to help ensure patient and health care worker safety and environmental protection.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this application-based activity, participants will be able to:

  • Apply principles of USP<800> to facilities and engineering controls for handling HDs.
  • Evaluate the role of engineering controls, administrative controls and PPE in controlling exposure to hazardous drugs, and USP<800> requirements for each.
  • Identify appropriate applications of USP<800> requirements for handling HDs throughout their lifecycle. 4. Perform risk assessments consistent with USP<800> requirements.

To obtain recertification credit for completing USP <800> Hazardous Drugs—Handling in Healthcare Settings for Compounding Professionals, complete the activity which includes receiving 70% or better on assessment, answer evaluation questions, and then CLAIM the Board Certification credit. After recertification credit has been claimed, a participant can access transcript by signing into your MyBPS account
