The APhA Federal Pharmacy Symposium provides federal pharmacy leaders with the opportunity to learn from industry experts about trends in health care service access and therapy to help patients achieve optimal outcomes. This symposium includes two (2) 90-minute presentations:

Learning to Bounce: Resilience in These Strangest of Strange Times - Resilience allows you to adjust to changing circumstances, cope with pressure, and maintain your sense of control. This presentation focuses on developing resiliency during times of uncertainty, with a focus on the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing DHA transition.  Simple, lifestyle-changing tools and strategies will help you and your staff grow personally and professionally.

Future Operations: Emergency Preparedness Planning - A panel of federal pharmacy leaders, representing a cross-section of federal agencies, will facilitate an emergency preparedness planning session based on lessons learned from recent natural disasters as well as the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. Topics will include telehealth and remote verification capability.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of Learning to Bounce: Resilience in These Strangest of Strange Times, pharmacists will be able to:

  • Describe the importance of emotional intelligence in providing support for well-being and resilience during times of stress such as COVID-19 or significant organizational change.
  • Assess current level of well-being and how it compares to other pharmacists.
  • Discuss strategies for maintaining wellness for ourselves and our patients based on different individual emotional intelligences.
  • Reflect upon personal applications of emotional intelligence theory to enhance personal resilience in the face of COVID-19 conditions.
  • Discuss strategies to develop resiliency, particularly during times of uncertainty.
  • Apply strategies to develop a personal resiliency plan.
  • Incorporate resiliency training with pharmacy staff.

The following archived webinar is approved for 3.0 contact hours of CPE credit (0.3 CEUs). To obtain credit for completing 2020 Federal Pharmacy Symposium,  participants will need to watch the archived webinar, complete the assessment with a grade of 70% or better, complete the evaluation questions, and then CLAIM credit. Participants need to have a valid pharmacist.com username and password to claim credit. After credit has been claimed, please visit CPE monitor for your transcript.

APhA continuing pharmacy education policy provides you with two opportunities to successfully complete this continuing pharmacy education assessment. Please note that you will not be permitted to submit the assessment a third time. The current policy of the APhA Education Department is not to release the correct answers to any of our CPE tests. This policy is intended to maintain the integrity of the CPE activity and the assessment.
