As the awareness about the negative effects of disposed medications on the environment increases, pharmacists and pharmacy administrators can play a critical role in addressing medication waste. Pharmacists can do it all: implement take-back programs, de-prescribe unnecessary medications, and educate patients on appropriate disposal of unneeded/expired medications. Register for this webinar to learn about the impact of medication disposal on the environment and the role a pharmacist can play in the various practice settings.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this knowledge-based activity, pharmacists will be able to:

  1. Discuss the indirect and direct impacts of medication waste on the environment.
  2. Identify effective strategies that pharmacists can implement to minimize medication waste.
  3. Educate patients on appropriate medication waste disposal within the community.
  4. Formulate an action plan for reducing medication waste and its effects on environmental pollution.
