Systemic racism is linked to a wide range of poorer health outcomes among marginalized communities in the United States. Addressing racial injustice as a strategy to improve health outcomes has been described as an “urgent public health emergency." Through case examples, learn how to recognize and address stereotypes and implicit bias, identify social determinants of health, and connec patients with community resources,

At the completion of this activity, pharmacists will be able to:

  • Discuss strategies to identify and address implicit biases.
  • Identify the impact of social determinants of health on patient outcomes.
  • Explain how to connect patients with community resources that can help address barriers to patient care.
  • Describe communication strategies for developing rapport and trust.

This policy is intended to maintain the integrity of the CPE activity and the assessment.
