Pharmacists, like other professionals, must focus on organizing time and priorities especially as more and more demands are being placed on workplace requirements. Because of multiple competing priorities, it is essential to focus on effective strategies to organize time and responsibilities to avoid burnout and create work life balance. This activity will examine strategies for organizing your time and priorities effectively, so you can avoid the feeling of always seeming overwhelmed.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss how to proactively manage their time in a busy pharmacy setting.
  2. Demonstrate techniques on how to stay on course while dealing with interruptions in a busy practice setting.
  3. Describe how to effectively delegate work tasks to other members of the support staff based on staff skills/abilities, work urgency, and priorities.
  4. Identify realistic goals and strategies on how to advance through work tasks in a step-by-step process.

The American Pharmacists Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Organizing Your Time and Priorities is approved for 1.0 contact hour of CPE credit (0.1 CEU). The ACPE Universal Activity Number for this activity is 0202-0000-21-259-H04-P.

To obtain credit for completing Organizing Your Time and Priorities, participants must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the activity assessment, complete an activity evaluation, and then CLAIM credit. Participants must have a valid username and password and CPE Monitor to claim credit. After credit has been claimed, please visit CPE monitor for your transcript.

APhA's continuing pharmacy education policy provides you with two opportunities to successfully complete the continuing pharmacy education assessment. Please note that you will not be permitted to submit the assessment a third time. The current policy of the APhA Education Department is to not release the correct answers to any of our CPE assessments. This policy is intended to maintain the integrity of the CPE activity and the assessment.
